Where would Lindy Hop be without Frankie?  He created the first aerial, he was responsible for the choreographies of Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers, and today, he goes around the world as the Ambassador of Lindy Hop, sharing with us, not just the steps, but the history and the spirit of the time when the dance was at its height, but most of all, emobodying all of what it means to do the Lindy.

I remember meeting Frankie almost a decade ago, when I was 4 months into dancing, and he blew me away with his friendliness, his innate sense of joy, and his ability to give so much just by being there. It has  been a joy to see him every year since then, and a real honour, to have gotten to know a living legend.

Here’s a clip with him talking about his autobiography Frankie Manning – Ambassador of Lindy Hop (2007), written by Frankie Manning and Cynthia Millman.
