Here’s a excerpt of the PBS doucumentary on Soundies, hosted by Michael Feinstein, four-time Grammy nominee and one of the premiere interpreters of American song. Back in the day, soundies were available at famous night clubs, bars, amusement centres and restuarants for 10 cents. The films were displayed on the Panoram, a coin-operated film and lasted 3 minutes… perhaps the MTV generation attention isn’t a contemporary phenomenon… or one could just blame it on technology!
