Japan is an amazing place -  I was blown away by my first trip there, with the sights, the fashion, the food, and everything! Oh, and yes, there was the swing dancing too, which I should get to.  Ha.

Taught a jazz class at iSwingtokyo and the following clip shows the socials after. Some nice dancers there, and it was nice to see  some collaboration between some schools (there are quite a few main schools in Tokyo!).

I also got the chance to catch some live jazz while I was there as well. Here’s a dixie band that plays once a month, and coming from a place where live jazz (dixie) for dancing is rare, this was a refreshing change.

In Osaka was where I taught a full weekend of workshops at Swing Week, and here too, I had the chance to listen and dance to some live bands.  This band for the Sunday night party consists of some dancers who were at the workshop.  Here they are singing “Please Don’t Talk About Me”

Charlie, having been a regular performer at SEA JAM, can be seen here singing “Mack the Knife”!

So, it was a good weekend workshop with keen dancers and nice live bands for the parties .  Got a chance to dance at Mechakucha swing event as well, held at a bar.

All in all, a great first time in Japan!  So if anyone is off to Tokyo or Osaka to dance, holler, and I’ll hook you up!
