Lindy Hop Beginners Course
Starts 17/11 OR 29/12 (Tues) 7:30 – 9:00pm
Cost: $150 for 6-week course
This beginners course will teach beginners the basics of this jazz partner dance, focusing on getting you on the dance floor and having fun, and learning how to communicate with your partner on the dance floor without words! No dance experience or partner needed. Sign up soon, as there is a limit to the number of participants.
Lindy Hop: Fun Moves (on hiatus, resumes Dec. Email to check)
Every Tuesday, 7:30-9:00pm
Cost: $28 for drop-in, $150 Dance Card* (6 classes)
These self-contained classes will focus on expanding your repertoire of moves, old school and new school moves, including charlestons and jazz steps, to add to your Swing Dancing vocabulary. This series is suitable for dancers with Lindy Hop basics (8-count, 6-count, Charlestons). All the classes are self-contained.
Lindy Hop Intermediate Classes (re-starts on 30/12, due to Balboa/Blues classes)
Every Wed 7:30-9:00pm
Cost: $28/class, or $150 Dance Card* (6 lessons)
You’re comfortable social dancing now and would like to work a little bit more on technique and connection and partnership, as well as dancing with a little more style and flair. All classes are self-contained.
Balboa Essentials Course
Course on going, new one begins in 2010, swing by for details!
Cost: $150 for the course (6 classes)
This course will teach you the basics of Balboa and Bal-swing, a swing dance that will give you variety on the dance floor, in addition to tackling those faster tempos! See JAZZ DANCING page for more details of this form of swing dance! This course is suitable for absolute beginners.
Blues Essentials Course
Look for new course in 2010
Cost: $150 for the course (6 classes)
Time to slow things down and do the Blues. This course will teach you the basics of Blues dancing, focusing on lead and follow techniques to break away from traditional forms in the dancing. This course is suitable for absolute beginners.
Solo Vernacular Jazz Workshop
Non-scheduled for now, swing by to check in 2010
Cost: $28/$25 (Dance card holder)
In these Vernacular Jazz workshops, where you will learn the solo aspects of Jazz Dancing from the 1920s and 30s, from the Charleston to Boogie Drops and Shorty-georges (see under JAZZ DANCING page or individual blog entries). Learn traditional rountines like the Shim Sham, Tranky Doo, and the Big Apple as well as new routines. NO EXPERIENCE is needed to sign up for this course.
Workshops and courses are conducted by Sinclair Ang, the founder of JAZZ INC, who has been teaching and performing internationally for several years now (see About for deails). He will be assisted by Kalai Gobal and Monique Botha for Lindy Classes, and Johanna Tan for Balboa and Blues classes. When he travels to teach overseas, his classes will be substituted by able co-teachers who have trained under him before.

PAYMENT METHODS
Please register via email to sinclair.ang@gmail.com, especially the courses, and pay via bank transfer (details will be sent to you once you register) or in cash at the social dance event Swing by the Flyer to confirm your place at the course so as to avoid disappointment. Alternatively, you can pay at the door for drop-ins, or buy a Dance Card (see below)
THE JAZZ INC DANCE CARD
Pay $150 for a Dance Card which entitles you to 6 lessons to be used within 7 weeks. Should you be unable to use all the lessons within the given time, you may extend the expiry by a week with an admin fee of $5.
